Toronto’s original
Tinder photographer.

Proven: Better photos on your online dating profile will get you more (and better quality) matches.

A STUDY BY OKCUPID SHOWED US EXACTLY WHICH KIND OF PICTURES GET THE MOST RESPONSES.
WE WILL GET BACK TO THAT LATER, BUT FIRST, LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF.

My name is Larry and I am a local Toronto photographer. Over the years I have learned a thing or two first-hand about dating in the big city, and I am here to share some hard-learned tips!

You, just like I did, are finding that the return of investment on online dating for guys is not always that great.

And this is why you are here.

SHOW ME PROOF

Years ago the popular online dating service OKCupid was running a very interesting blog.
One article that stood out to me was explaining how different camera setting can affect your perceived attractiveness. The type of lens used, the time of day the photo was taken, etc. were all factors when users were rated for attractiveness.

For instance: those two are photos of users that were rated in a hot-or-not fashion by users on OKCupid. Men with quick snapshots from pocket cameras or cell phones constantly received below–average ratings, whereas dudes with carefully directed and professional-grade images always scored well above average.

QUALITY PHOTOS = QUALITY LIFESTYLE

A little bit of reverse psychology here.
If you appear to have spent some money on professional online dating photos, this speaks quite well of your overall financial situation (when it is just smart budgeting – you don’t really needed those $300 Beats headphones when a $100 Sennheiser will sound the same).

It is my usual routine to spend $40 at the tailor, $10-20 on parking (not to mention recovering my towed-away car after an uneventful club night) and the effect from those only lasts a moment.
By investing in a photoshoot, you will reap the benefits for years to come. Use that photo on your LinkedIn if you wish, or on the ‘About me’ page of your future blog.

The same goes for many other things – real estate with better photos gets sold faster, waitresses who put the most effort in their looks get the most tips, etc.

Let me also put this out there – if you have a few consecutive indoor selfies, I am sorry to say but that straight-up spells ‘no life’.

THE FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE LAST IMPRESSION YOU LEAVE ON PEOPLE

Modern online dating is a place where your image does ALL of the talking.
For example, if you met someone at a party, chances are you have ways of getting background information about said person, one way or another. At a job interview, the HR does not only look at your resume but also at your shoes, tone of voice, handshake and so on.

But how about Tinder? Or Bumble? The only thing that a girl has to work with before swiping left or right (which often happens incredibly fast) is ONE SINGLE PHOTO of you.

‘Good enough’ won’t cut it.

I ADMIRE HOW CHICKS DO IT

A hugely effective thing girls do is emphasize their best  features to the point that you almost forget to evaluate the rest.
For example, in this photo, it is obvious that the girl is most proud of her toned legs and overall fit figure. So, wearing baggy sweatpants or listing how many university degrees she has took a back seat.

This is a thing we, men, can do as well. I will ask you the essence of your hobbies, what are you most proud of, etc. and we will customize the photoshoot accordingly!

Yesterday, you said tomorrow.

TRAVEL UPDATE: I will be available in Toronto for a limited time between July 2 and 11, 2023.
Think fast but rest assured, I have been doing this since 2015.
